Ferrofluid-a substance that consists of tiny magnetic fragments of iron suspended in oil and surfactant to prevent any lumps. Given that the magnetic fluid of the magnetic particles, it is only logical to assume that, when subjected to a magnetic field, the particles coincide with the lines of force, which, in turn, makes the liquid more dense.
There are many commercial applications for ferrofluid and hard drives and speakers are the most common. When a small amount of this oily liquid, placed between the shaft and the magnets, this prevents dirt getting into the hard drives. In the case of loudspeakers, the liquid helps to loosen come movements by removing heat from voice coils.
