This ingeniously simple idea for a homemade model of tracking the sun using a few easily available components and minimal Assembly at almost no cost. It makes sense, providing themselves and without using electronics or sensors. Presented here in a sixth grade instruction and explanation set for a science project with clear animations and scientific explanations of the physical principles with diagrams behind the workings of the model that were readily understandable and motivating to young students.
The video ends with food for thought to stimulate creativity and problem-solving with great graphics and animation, how to expand the model to low-cost, practical DIY devices to produce alternative energy. This also inspired indirect student interest in producing this video as a technical presentation to explain the idea using MS PowerPoint, movie maker and Google sketchup for 3D models and animations.
